A.G.M 20th March 2014
21 members attended the A.G.M. on Thursday 20th March 2014, we were pleased to welcome our Area rep Rodney Hann and his wife Carol. Gordon welcomed everyone and Chris read the minutes of the last A.G.M. There being no matters arising, the meeting moved on to the Chairman's and treasurer's reports before the Chairman stood down and Rodney led the nominations and election for the Chairman for the next year, this turned out to be Gordon who then led the meeting through nominations and elections for the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and members of the Committee. The new Committee are: Chairman - Gordon, Secretary - Chris, Treasurer - Keith, also Ray, Mike, Rod, Cyril and Matt. Under A.O.B. Rod gave us a 'latest' on the situation at Allen house leading up to their A.G.M. then other AOB items touched on safety on club runs and suitability of narrow lanes, gravel and pot holes, the committee will discuss this further at their next meeting. Members were invited to come forward before September this year if they would like to organise a club run so that it can be agreed before the paperwork for next years runs are sent by Chris to Allen house. It just remains for me to thank the members who attended the A.G.M., it's your section so I encourage you to be involved at whatever level you are comfortable with.
Next run starts at Bradworthy square on Sunday April 13th, it's the April fools run so polish the bikes and I'll see you there.

SRING RUN
On a gloriously fine day, 36 assorted makes of British and European vintage motorcycles gathered at D&S Supplies of Winkleigh for the Spring Run.A new route of some 60 miles, organised by John Trible and Mike Curtis, took us through some of Devons finest countryside and on some testing road surfaces. Some of the views were outstanding, particularly on the approach to Hatherleigh and those over Dartmoor.
The sight, in villages such as Monkokehampton, Sheepwash, Petrockstowe and Black Torrington.of so many bikes brought some people to their doorsteps to see the machines go by and give us a wave.
The day was not however, perfect for everyone. An incident occurred on Dartmoor when Mike from Cornwall stepped backwards from the roadside into the path of Tony and was knocked to the ground. I am pleased to say that only pride was injured.
Ray meanwhile, suffered a dropped exhaust valve and required the services of the AA breakdown truck to get him home.
Thanks to John and Mike for a fine day out, and to Mike again for the photos.
otos.

February 20th 2014 club night
This months club night was very successful, members were invited to bring photo's of 'bikes they had owned and have a few moments to talk about them. Keith brought his computer and the clubs projector so people who brought their photo's on a memory stick, a CD or a DVD were able to have them on the screen, this did not deter members who brought their photo's as they were passed around, we shall certainly do that again. Now we have our first run of the year coming up so here's an advanced notice to get the bike out of the shed, dust off the cobwebs and lets see you at Winkleigh ( D & S Supplies ), 1030 for a 11am start, there will be only a 'morning' run which will finish at Okehampton......see you there.

January 16th club night
14 club members sat down to watch the film 'The worlds fastest Indian', most of us had seen the film before but probably like me had forgotten many parts of it judging by the laughter at various scenes. Rod and Carol Hann joined us and we were updated at the latest 'happenings' at Allen house, the draw went well with 3 prizes being available. Next months club night will centre around another new idea from the committee, we are asking you to bring photo's of your machines past and present, either as hard photo's or on a stick or CD and tell us a bit about it all, maybe it's a rebuild or a bike you wish you had never got rid of, so come on don't be shy, show and tell, see you there.

New years run 5th Jan 2014
This run did not take place for safety reasons, this decision was based on two main facts: firstly, Rod, ( who's run it was ), revisited the route on Saturday morning following quite a few days of rain and gales, he found the route to be suffering from excess water, and mud and grit running off fields and gateways, secondly, frost was forecast for the morning and more rain and gales were due from 0900, members of the committee were consulted and the decision was made to cancel. This is only the second time in some years that a run has reluctantly had to be cancelled and it is not taken lightly so let's hope the rest of the year is better. Five committee members rang around on Saturday evening to inform as many people as possible and then turned up on Sunday morning at the start to advise anyone ( just 2 ), who turned up.
Our club night this month is on Jan. 16th where we will show the film ' the worlds fastest Indian ', so come along and see it for the first time or see it again.
